A very caring rescue I have adopted 4 ex breeding dogs, hard work to start with as never really had kind human contact, but the love and bond you receive from these dogs as they grow to give there trust is beyond belief. I cannot speak highly enough about Many Tears.

No frills rescue but with all the emphasis being the priority and well being of the animal. Which is the way it should be. Great place to get a dog an know there is advise and care through the whole process to make sure the right dog is matched up to the right home and owner. Will always have a rescue from here.

If Carlsberg made rescues.........!! It is so hard to sum up in words the astounding work that Many Tears do but.......I will try!
I first "stumbled" across Many Tears online when looking for a rescue dog to adopt in 2012 to keep my resident dog company. I became "addicted" to the website and cried many, many tears (it's aptly named) seeing the state of the dogs that were brought into the rescue.
I adopted my first Many Tears dog at the end of 2013 - went on to foster for them and have since adopted another 2 dogs (failed fosters, I couldn't bear to let them go!).
There is something so magical about this place - it doesn't have the facilities like a lot of the "bigger" rescues, yet rehomes just as many dogs. The kennels are ALWAYS spotless, the staff who work there are so dedicated and caring and always go the extra mile for the dogs in their care, most of whom have had very little human contact previously or if so, negative contact.
Sylvia and Bill who run Many Tears do it solely for the love of the dogs, Sylvia doesn't "work" there, it's her calling and she truly has the desire to save them all. They give the blind sight, they mend those with broken hearts (heart surgery), they pay thousands for surgery on twisted or damaged limbs, they rehabilitate the petrified........and all through donations and fundraising.
The Many Tears family - the fosterers, fundraisers, supporters, transporters, staff are all cogs in a wheel that makes up one hell of a rescue and there is always help, support and advice for anyone who needs it.
Would I recommend this rescue? In a heartbeat. Adopting an exbreeding dog is a privilege and the rewards they give you when they learn to trust and live in a home as a normal pet are indescribable.Review by: Louise

I have adopted 6 ex-breeding bitches from Many Tears over the years. In July 2006, I adopted a yellow Labrador who was in foster care. Later that year, I adopted three more yellow Labradors from foster care. I then adopted two more (black) labs via different routes. In 2012, I did a sponsored ride from Land's End to John O'Groats on a 50cc scooter. I brought the cash down in person. This resulted in a love affair with a beagle. Needless to say, Pernod (Beagle) arrived home two weeks later, to join a busy household of five labs! Following the deaths of four of my beloved Labradors, I was left with Pernod and a black lab. Desperately missing a yellow lab, I adopted another yellow, Isabella, in January 2016.
Many Tears staff are very knowledgeable about the needs of their dogs, and their wish is to find the best home for each individual dog. I wish I lived near to them, so I could help out with the dogs, but I help by doing home checks in my local area. They are a five-star rescue, caring passionately about their charges. Sometimes it is difficult to get through by phone because staff are so busy.Review by: Shirley Woodhouse

I have never visited the centre, although my answers are based on my contact with them. After meeting someone in my local park who had a Many Tears dog, and being the owner of 5 dogs myself - I made enquiries to foster for them. We met the criteria by having a secure garden and other dogs and a home check was arranged. The home checker was also a fosterer and gave lots of good advice on what we could expect, and what was expected of us. After fostering quite a few dogs, we had one that arrived that we knew immediately that we would adopt him. We had to apply like everyone else, and pay the adoption fee but it was helped by the fact we were already fosterer and the home check was not required in our case. I can honestly state that the staff at this rescue centre are the most helpful people I've ever dealt with. There are also an abundance of fosterers who are always on hand to give help and advice when needed, nothing is ever too much trouble and everyone helps each other. If any problems do arise, it is discussed and a solution is always found to everyone's satisfaction. The common goal is that we all want the perfect home for the dogs. The organisation is smoothly run and is reliant on donations. We have fostered many dogs for them now and will continue to do so as long as we are able to.

We adopted our first dog from Many Tears in 2006 and were so impressed with the rescue that we have since adopted three other dogs from there . It is such a welcoming place the dogs are extremely well cared for and they are always pleased to have volunteers to further socialise and walk the dogs .
The website is full of information and is updated everyday. It is a professionally run rescue with a very warm heart .Review by: Jacqui Baker

A lot of information was given about the dogs I was interested in. They have dogs in foster homes all over the country. I could walk the dogs. There were lots of different dogs for me to consider. The kennel staff seemed very confident when handling the dogs. All the adult dogs were nuetured, micro chipped and vaccinated before adoption. All puppies had to be neutered at six months and attend puppy classes, were vaccinated and microchipped. Follow up care if it was needed.

Many Tears is a well run rescue, the stuff clearly know everydog. They get so many dogs in but the care and love they get is amazing. The dogs are always clean in there kennels too. They use foster homes all over the country so even if you can't get to the centre to adopt, there will always be dogs within a reasonable distance from most people

I came across Many Tears Rescue in January 2015 following an online search for dog rescues and I became aware that this was a rather 'unique' rescue in that it dealt with desperate and often ex-breeding dogs often from appalling backgrounds on a regular basis. I subsequently telephoned and was able to discuss the dog in great detail with a lady that was familiar with it and how very scared she actually was. I met for a 'meet & greet' with my family and existing dog at the rescue and then returned after she was spayed and had a pyometra removed and when she was fit to leave. I had to telephone the following morning and actually spoke with Sylvia (who runs the rescue with her husband) about her condition overnight and was given reassurance and medication was posted onto me and I also spoke with their behaviourist some weeks later for reassurance too. Since then, I have gladly fundraised for them, become a home checker and for the past 10 months have fostered dogs for them and I can confirm that they are the most caring rescue I have ever dealt with, the dogs are very well cared for and are first priority in every event, all by dedicated staff and fundraisers as they are a 'not for profit' organisation. All supporters are very passionate about how they can help these poor dogs to become a well loved family member within a forever home and long may it continue!

My first experience of Many Tears Rescue was back in 2008 when I adopted a dog from them. I had already been involved with rescue & fostering for many years prior to this and knew of several good Rescue's. However, I was so impressed with every aspect of Many Tears, that not only did I adopt a second dog from them, I also joined their foster team. I have now fostered for Many Tears for over 8 years, and adopted 3 more dogs from them! Over those years the exceptionally high level of care, dedication & support offered, both for the dogs, adopters & foster carers', has never wavered. Based on experience, Many Tears are, without any doubt, one of the best Rescues' to adopt from...and to foster for!

Looked on Many Tears website as i wanted a companion for my cavalier King Charles Winston. Saw Zander (now George) 4 months old with the saddest looking eyes. Emailed them friday evening got a call back Saturday Morning, home visit that evening and went to see him on the Sunday afternoon. My husband went in and they brought him out to me and Winston into an eclosed area to see if they both got on ok. Well George made a bee line for me and i swear he looked into my eyes and begged me to take, that was it straight home us. That was just over 2 years ago. I thank Many Tears for allowing us to adopt a loveable talkative, clumsy gorgeous boy. They were brilliant.

Having little or no experience with animal rescue in my life, I was genuinely astonished, impressed and moved at the level of involvement, caring and professionalism of every single person I met connected to Many Tears, it has moved me to get more involved, donate time and money and has made me a group of very supportive friends.
I feel humbled by the dedication of some of the volunteers that Many Tears inspire to support them, that sort of commitment can only be generated if they have confidence in the organisers of such an institution.Review by: Jim Dalton

We have visited MT on 3 occasions, were allowed to take our chosen dog for a walk to see how she behaved out of kennels and were shown round by really friendly staff every time. The staff and volunteers all knew the history of their dogs, were very knowledgeable about each dogs likes/dislikes and were very good when handling each dog. The facilities at the rescue centre in Llanelli are lovely, dogs have heat lamps in their kennels, lots of beds and toys and there are several sand schools where they go out to run and play. There are also lots of volunteer dog walkers. We adopted an ex-breeding GSD who has been exactly as they described and who has settled incredibly well. The assistant manager was particularly helpful and he came out to our home after the adoption to ensure everything was going ok. Can't recommend them highly enough, they were brilliant with us and all the dogs!

I applied to adopt an older dog (10 ) but was turned down as my partner and I work (full time teachers, so we generally work from 8.30-3.30). Even though we have two rescue dogs already and a dog walker who pops in each day this was deemed inadequate. I totally understand that they have to act in the best interests of a dog and am glad they thoroughly vet each home, but I believe they need to have a more open minded adoption policy if they are to help the maximum amount of dogs possible. Many more rescues are more open minded to working families and assess dogs and potential owners on an individual basis. I think having a blanket ban on working homes is very limiting and means that dogs are potentially missing out on many knowledgeable, safe and loving home.It was also clear from the emailed reply I received to my application that the assessor had not even read through my application properly, as they had missed several key details and claimed that I was also being turned down as I didn't have any existing dogs (I have two). Even if a dog would be left alone for four hours at a time in between a dog walker coming in, surely this is preferable to being in kennels? I have since gone on to adopt a third dog from a well known rescue organisation. It is a shame that I was not able to help a MTR dog as I was a big supporter of the rescue for a long time, but unfortunately I do not feel I would be able to recommend the rescue to friend or family as I do not think many people would have the chance of adopting from them!

Rescue's response:
We are very sorry you feel you were unfairly turned down for an older dog. We absolutely do not have a blanket ban on working homes and are always happy to discuss this with potential adopters but it does depend on the dog they was to adopt. We would be more than happy to discuss your application. On every reply we send via email we do say please contact us if we’ve misunderstood or you feel you’ve been unfairly turned down. We very much regret you feel unable to support or recommend us to others as you feel it’s too hard to adopt from us. We home around 2500 dogs a year.

MTAR are a dedicated bunch of people trying to find the right home for THE DOG. They are friendly and forthright and will offer help and guidance as necessary. This is the second dog we have rehomed from them and although they have not followed up the adoption, this could be that we are very experienced large dog owners and in any event they make enquiries, visiting etc prior to adoption. Their paperwork etc is straightforward and easy to understand. I would very much recommend.

The overall adoption process was effective and efficient with the re-homing and welfare of the dog of the utmost priority and importance once the vetting had been approved. I would like to point out that as an ex-puppy farm stud, my new pet would have found it so much harder to adjust if it wasn't for the appropriate care and experience of the foster home/s he had been in prior to me taking him on. His adjustment to pet life is going well thanks to the early start that MTR gave him which in turn has made our experience so far, much easier than it could have been.
I would say that the pre-adoption qualification, ease and care was very good and the foster-er was exceptionally helpful and supportive with advise and background etc. I am very fortunate to be having a great deal of success so far (although early days) and it would have been great to have been able to report this positive story back if a follow-up had been made by MTR, however, I have seen that their priority is the re-homing of vulnerable animals who desperately need forever homes. With this in mind, I would find it very difficult to be too critical about the lack of follow-up communication as I would rather that phone call was made on another re-homing than a courtesy follow-up.
I big well done thumbs up and thank you from meReview by: GKK

ManyTears always put the health and welfare of their dogs first. The staff and volunteers are extremely kind and knowledgeable. All dogs are health checked, vaccinated, chipped and spayed and assessed. Potential adopters are assessed for their suitability to adopt and given as much information and help, as possible. This rescue has foster homes all over the country, which ensures that dogs are assessed in home environments with children, other dogs and cats. Potential adopters are encouraged to visit the foster home and meet the dog, taking with them all family members and other dogs. This rescue does everything, it can, to make sure that dogs and owners are right for each other and will do all they can to help with any post adoption problems. The web site is easy to navigate and comprehensive. Help is available via the telephone. Many Tears is an excellent rescue, in all ways. We have adopted two ex-breeding Schnauzers and a puppy Yorkshire Terrier. Since 2010.

Many Tears is an amazing rescue centre in Wales where they work hard to help animals and are especially helping many ex--breeding dogs; as this area does seem to have a problem with these lovely animals no longer wanted once their breeding days are over. It is a very important job and we feel very thankful that there are people like those at Many Tears who are doing as much as they can to help. When we adopted our dog from them the service was second to none and we felt that we were thoroughly vetted to ensure that our dog was adopted by the right family. They knew exactly his temperament and issues arising from his less than happy past, and ensured that we understood what we were taking on and that they were happy we could manage. Our dog from Many Tears has been an utter joy to behold as he has gained in confidence and this is as much because of the work done by the rescue to find the right environment for him, as it is because of or work with him. We can't thank them enough or recommend them more highly. Fantastic job! Adoption: July 2011

Many Tears is an excellent centre in South Wales. However they re-home all over the UK and often have dogs that have been rescued from death row , a pound or ex breeding dogs that have not had a good start in life. The web site gives a good write up about the dogs and often there are dogs nationwide as they go out to fosterer's so the dogs do not have to stay in the kennels and get more stressed. The dogs come being neutered which in itself often costs over £120+ if done at a vet, plus they are all vaccinated, including kennel cough and micro chipped. I would highly recommend re-homing from this centre. I have previously re-homed an ex breeding dog and he was the most loving and rewarding companion I ever had. Adoption: 2012

They had matched my application to a particular animal that they believed would both fit my needs and would develop her potential in my care. I had initially been interested in another animal, but when I visited (a round trip of 440 miles) I too recognized the needs of the suggested animal and my decision to go ahead was the best that I have made in many years.
I have received 3 telephone calls since adoption 4 weeks ago, to check that all was well. I am confident that should I need advice or help, this would be forthcoming from a simple telephone call.
I have nothing but praise for the ethos and professional but caring approach to not only rescue, but rehoming. Adoption: Jan 2013

We adopted our puppy from Many Tears in December 2012. Although the process was very thorough, this ensured that we were a good match for our dog and and we also came away with some good knowledge of how to care for her.
We initially filled in an online form and very quickly received a phone call from the centre, lasting about half an hour. The next day we were called by the foster carers who told us about the puppy and also asked lots of questions. This was not as daunting as it sounds, but they need to make sure you have done some homework and know what you are letting yourself in for.
A few days later we had a home check. The homecheker was very helpful and gave some good advice. The next step was for the whole family to meet the puppy. We all got a chance to walk her on the lead and play with her. Then 2 days later we collected her.
We have kept in toch with the foster carers, who gave great advice. We were given our puppy's routine and they even supplied a pack of food, collar and lead, toys and a blanket. She was also microchipped and vaccinated before she came to us.
Many tears are very thorough but care a great deal about the dogs they look after. Our experience was very positive and we are over the moon with our new addition. Adoption: Dec 2012 -

We are extremely sorry you feel you have been unfairly turned down by Many Tears Animal Rescue. Without knowing which dogs you applied for we cannot specifically respond to your statements. We do always listen if people feel they have been unfairly turned down for a dog if they contact us and often a compromise can be reached to ensure both the dog and new owners have a happy life together. Many Tears respond to all applications within 24 hours and we apologise if you did not hear from us within that time period but again without knowing which dogs you applied for we cannot check what happened. We would, of course, be only too happy to discuss our policies with you in more detail, if you contact us direct.

A superb rescue. Website updated daily and detailed information on each dog. Very strict adoption criteria (detailed application form, home check and interview). As the dog we were adopting had been in contact with one that had been poorly, they asked us to delay collection of our puppy, to make sure she was well enough to leave them and travel. A
very caring rescue run by superb staff and some fantastic dog fosterers located all over the UK. Despite the huge amount of dogs that come through their doors each month, they treat each as an individual and get to know them. This is evident in their write up and by the care they take to rehome each dog with the right forever family. Adoption: 2011 -

From the initial contact with Many Tears through to the day we brought our pup home was professional and animal centered. I found this rescue to be a happy, positive place with incredibly clean kennels. There is a play area for dogs to have fun and let off steam and a sandschool to introduce your dogs to the new dog you hope to adopt.
Staff were all in high spirits and happy to show me round the rescue and were very helpful, making suggestions of which dogs would be suitable or not. I was encouraged to spend time with dogs I was interested in and I wasn't pushed into making a choice,
Homecheck was done quickly by a helpful lady in a relaxed manner.
Seems such an honest rescue, the passion of the staff was clear to see.
Was given a sample of food for my dog and told that they were always available and happy to support us with advice and aftercare.
I am glad I went to Many Tears and recommend it wholeheartedly to all. I've even bought a car sticker! Adoption: 2011 -

Many Tears is an exceptional place. The care and correct placement of the animals is their foremost concern. The kennels are clean, light, warm and positioned so that dogs can get used to human activity, but they still have a secure haven. The place is run with a rare combination of precision and compasssion. The animals are very well cared for, and in every sense 'loved' by the staff and fosterers who know their business very well. Many Tears do a fantastic job helping rehome dogs into suitable family homes. The adoption process is very thorough and a home check is made prior to adoption. We collected our dog from a fosterer in London who I still keep in touch with and let know how he is doing. I had seen a couple of older unwanted dogs being advertised (not ex breeding dogs) who I thought would suit for my lifestyle and to either of whom I could offer a comfortable and loving home. Despite a thorough and wholly honest explanation of my circumstances on the application (working but home a lot of the time and with proven and professional dog walking arranged), the reply from Many Tears arrived after about a week and said that I was not suitable for adoption due to my working commitments. Both my vet and the dog-walking service were happy to supply references. I was disappointed by their attitude which does not appear to match their objectives. If they do not re-home to anyone who needs to leave a dog for over 3 hours, then it would be much simper to state that on the pre-adoption form. I would have been quite prepared for that and, therefore not wasted anyone's time, including my own.
I know that rescues often experience people returning dogs because they had unrealistic expectations of life with a dog and that must be a sad and confusing outcome for that dog. I know that this is often down to an over-statement of their ability to be at home or expectations of the care and effort involved. Had I been less honest, they would have been happy to go ahead. I have the following suggestions for this rescue: state clearly that they don't find dog- walking services acceptable,
send a courteous and considerate email where they decide someone is not suitable but asking if they might like to be involved in some other way (e.g. home-checking, fund-raising, support for dogs needing long term care etc), and ask rejected applicants to always consider them first if circumstances change. 2013

Many Tears have Dogs in foster all over the UK. Their website is always up to date with as much information as they have on each animal. I have been both an adoptee and have also fostered for them. The rescue itself is very clean and the dogs get fantastic care. All the staff and fosterers will give you plenty of support during and after adopting a dog from them. Adoption: 2010

I only found out about Many Tears as my daughters school did lots of fundraising for the rescue . Since then, I have adopted my own dog as he came over from Ireland. I feel Many Tears does such a terrific job and they are such caring people. I have been fostering dogs and puppies for them for the last 2 years. Adoption: 2009

Many Tears is a rescue in South Wales that mainly helps ex puppy farm dogs - they do help rehome dogs for other reasons as well though.
They have a wonderful internet site and you can reserve a dog after filling in a pre adoption form and having a telephone interview and a home visit (from a local rescue).
They rehome dogs all over the country some dogs are in foster homes also. We adopted a puppy farm dog and she knew nothing of the world she had lived in a cage all her life for 5 years.
As Many Tears state the puppy farm dogs are not a ready made dog a lot of hard work and patience goes into making your pet learn to live for the first time in their lives. Adoption: 2008 -

I have regularly helped here after adopting my first dog as i was so impressed. I have adopted 4 dogs in total from many tears and each have been exactly as they said. The staff took time to talk to me and find me the right dog. Couldn't recomend them more highly!!! Adoption: 2007

I adopted an ex-breeding dog from them who was in a really bad way. They had really cared for her and carried out all her operations and other treatment necessary. She was not a ready made dog but it has brought the greatest joy into our lives to be able to help her learn about being a pet and would recommend the process to anyone who is an experienced dog owner. Many Tears gave us advice and support when needed too. They are very busy so you need to be patient when ringing, but I like it that they prioritise the animals welfare. I highly recommend them as they have dogs in foster care all over the country and these dogs have been really well assessed. Adoption: 2007
