We adopted Gladys, a female long-haired mostly tabby (but with added white) cat two months ago. The carers – yes, they are carers – at Ashley Heath RSPCA Centre told us as much as they could about her. She was a stray, so there wasn't much to say. The Centre staff gave lots of advice. The preparations had been done for us – vet reports, vaccinations, flea treatment. (I have heard tales of other cat rescue places where this is left to the new owner).
Arriving at our home she was nervous but hungry. She quickly found a hiding place. Patience has been required as it has taken a little while for her to settle. But she eats well and is gradually adventuring. I fear that over-indulgence has led to Gladys commanding the house. Ashley Heath has retained an interest and we feel confident that their help has guided us well.Review by: Peter

My Mum and her Husband went to get a dog from the RSPCA as they had just lost theirs after 12 years , they were asked their ages , when they said 81 and 83 they were told they were too old! This was despite the fact they said if anything happened to them my Brother or I would take on the dog. My parents went to another rescue and had no problem adopting a Yorkie.......they did not go against them because of their ages. Adoption: 2012
