The rescue was completely transparent regarding the history and behavioural issues of dog I was hoping to adopt. They went out of their way to make sure that I understood what was required on my side to ensure the adoption would be successful. There has been good follow-up contact since the dog came home with me, and no pressure on me to make a quick decision on whether to keep him. I have no doubt that we shall keep in touch with updates and progress reports, and that help and advice will be there should the dog or I need support at any time in the future. This rescue really cares about the dogs it rehomes, and makes every effort to match the right dog to the right new owner.

This was the fourth dog we have adopted from this rescue over the last 13 years. All of the dogs we have had from the rescue have been setters. The team at Black Retriever X rescue give a comprehensive assessment of the dogs and have a laser focus on finding the right home for each animal. I feel they thoroughly understand us and what we offer our dogs ( we have 5) and as a result we can have a great deal of confidence that we understand the needs of the dog we are adopting. They slot right in to our family and live their best life. Black Retriever X rescue are always at the end of the phone if you have to face a situation new to you and your dog too. We know that from personal experience. And whilst we have recently taken on two youngsters from them ( in Aug 2024 & in Feb 2025 ) and we have many happy years ahead we know that Black Retriever x Rescue will be there for when our dog(s) comes to the end of its life and we are grieving. Because they are more than a rescue: they are people who build relationships to make sure their rescue work is the best it can be for the long term.

We have now adopted three times from BRX rescue and have had a positive experience on all three occasions. For our most recent experience we were given detailed information about the dog, Douglas, from the rescue, including information from two other fosterers. The information provided was accurate and enabled us to make a decision initially to foster with a view to adopt if we felt we were the right home. We have a very active lifestyle and so wanted to make sure Douglas would have appropriate health and fitness to enjoy adventures with us. BRX gave us plenty of time to get some health checks and decide whether to adopt. We kept in touch regularly over several weeks until we we made our decision for Douglas to stay. BRX are extremely professional, thorough and kind and still keep in touch about the dogs we have adopted. I highly recommend them as a rescue.
