Very friendly people who obviously love the dogs in their care. Excellent expertise with care and understanding of dogs. We adopted a small bitch now called Sunny and received good advice on all aspects of keeping a dog. Our daughter also adopted a second dog from the same litter of pups, now called Dash and both animals arrived fit and well. AA dog rescue is a great, caring organisation which achieves successful rehoming of hundreds of dogs every year.

The staff were all friendly and very busy. The animals looked well cared for and comfortable. We were very happy from start to finish, and the Facebook owners page is so helpful and a caring family community. Highly recommend they do a fantastic job! Our dog was rescued from spain, I am in contact with both the lady who arranged her foster home whilst paperwork sorted and the foster family who had her for the 4 month it took to arrange paperwork. I was able to ask questions and they helped with as much info as they could. The UK owners are always on hand to give advice and offer encouragement.

What a fantastic rescue this is! They don't have prestigious, prestine kennels but they make the very best of the accomodation, ensure the dogs are walked and fed twice a day, given clean bedding and treats on their return from their morning walk and they are loved by dedicated staff and volunteers.
Our little girl came to us in tip top condition, in fact we didn't bath her for several months as she didn't need it! She had separation anxiety but we had so much help and support from AA they sent a behourist free of charge and even arranged a telephone consultation with an animal communicator from Spain! I really feel this has got to be one of the best rescues in the country for dedication to dogs, they never turn a dog away and they will care for them until they find a new home however long it takes.
Thank you AADR

We saw Louie Dog on the internet and decided he was just what we wanted. My son went to see him and pick him up. The kennels gave us a period of time to bond with him and have him settle with us. We all got on really well. When he came to us Louie Dog had been neutered, chipped and vaccinated and in good health. The only real problem we have had with him is aggressive when someone comes to the front door and will bite if we try to put him in another room. The kennels gave us advice and how to deal with it. He just gets very excited and I can't get the door open quick enough for him. Louie isn't very good with other dogs so we have to walk him always on his lead. But for all his excited ways we love him to bits. Training him isn't easy he has a mind of his own and will do what he wants.

Having recently lost our beautiful rescue dog to bone cancer we were feeling emotional and indecisive. The AA team were kind and supportive and very patient with us, not pushy at all. We visited several times before we felt ready to move on with a new dog.
They helped us find the right dog to fit in with our needs, they enabled us to spend as much time as we needed bonding with him in a safe environment where we could let him off the lead and interact with him. Then they brought him to the farm themselves to meet our other rescue dogs and make sure they would all be ok together.
We are very happy with our new dog and would definitely consider getting another one from them.

Don't expect a posh plush premises like dogs trust or battersea. Aa do a brilliant job with their premises and limited funds. Aa are also very realistic in their approach to potential adopters ie people work for a living. Definitely worth a visit, talk to the staff, and view and meet the dogs. Alfie aka Duffy has been with us for over a year with no issues and is now a much loved and important member of our family.

I found all staff to be immensely helpful, all dogs in their care to be well loved and cared for even with their limited funding and resources. Post adoption help has been offered and vet care where necessary. Other than the traumas my dogs suffered prior to being rescued by AADR, they were comfortable and content with all the staff. I was completely satisfied that all staff members had done everything in their power to correct any issues the dogs had prior to adoption. I will continue to recommend AADR to anyone looking to rehome and love a dog.

We went to AADR from a recommendation from a friend who rehab med a dog from there, we were told we could spend as much time as we wanted looking/interacting/ walking with the dogs. Dogs were very well looked after and kennels were clean with plenty of bedding. After adoption we were given great after care and back up. A fantastic rescue centre with only love and dedication given to each and every indevidual dog. If we choose to rehouse another rescue dog we will be going back to AADR for sure.

I would have no hesitation in recommending AA Dog Rescue to anyone looking to adopt a rescue dog. AA staff and volunteers are totally dedicated to all the dogs they rescue and it shows in the loving, professional way they treat the dogs and help you to select the right one because AA want the best home possible for their dogs. After I adopted Winnie I realised that I had joined a warm and caring community of AA dog owners, many of who continue to support the rescue in various ways. I know that if I ever have a problem - big or small - AA are always there to advise and help.

My family have 2 dogs from AA dog rescue. We were encouraged to meet the dogs with our family, including our current dog. (Meet and greet). Then we were encouraged to go take the rescued dogs for walks with our own dog. After a visit, to our home with the rescue dog, our match with the rescue dog discussed.
Easy, friendly staff. No questions avoided or too much trouble. After care always there for you.
Finally. The rescued dogs always loved by themselves as part of their own family.Review by: Sarah vernau

I had been looking to adopt a dog for a while. I am an experienced dog owner previously of different breeds and dogs with different issues. I was adamant I wanted to rescue rather than buy but all of the larger rescues would not support me as an adopter as I had children. They had told me it would be better I go and buy a puppy as I had kids. I stuck to my guns as there are so many great dogs needing a chance and found best rescue ever which I recommend to everyone looking. Staff are amazing and the dog I found is incredible I am grateful every day they called me back and listened to me and recommended this beautiful dog. Amazing amazing people!

We adopted our dog in December.
She was rescued from Romania.
With Aa dog rescue you get 7 days with the dog to ensure you are a right fit. I think this is a great idea.
Also they are really helpful afterwards as they have a owners fb page that you can join and they answer any questions or give you advice if needed.
Our dog came with a passport showing her medical history, vacancies, worming etc. She was chipped and neutered.
Would use them again, not as "posh" as places like the dog trust but so caring.Review by: Natevo

I can't sing AA's praises enough. They allowed me to adopt my best friend. They're knowledgable about the dogs they have and their health/behavioural issues. They genuinely want the best for the dogs in their care! Recently they've made leaps and bounds in the construction and noise reduction, even the smell is better! I think what they've done and what they're doing is amazing! They look after their animals better than a lot of homes! They're always there to support post-adoption, with a Facebook page and email/phone service. The only thing I have a three stars on was their website isn't up to date but can you blame them? They're busy!! Their Facebook is always up to date with pictures :)

AA Rescue was Brilliant. We had a difficult task of looking for a family dog. I would highly recommend AA and their experience to match you with the right dog. My son was given great instructions how to handle the 5-month puppy such as to stroke her beneath the chin. The staff were excellent and caring ensuring that they showed us a suitable dog by character, thankfully they did as it was love at first sight. We took her for a walk and got to know her and my son was not interested in any other dog. They have a thorough process they know the dogs nature and they like to check your home and their passion, caring and loving towards the dogs was clear to see. They telephone you and have facebook support once you adopt. I have been so impressed with Lola aka Monkey she is part of our family always giving a warm and loving greeting. My sons 10 months later give her so much love and attention she in return gives everyone love. She is a mixed breed, obviously very well looked after by AA by her adorable nature and I never dreamed we would have such a loving and perfect dog and we cant thank AA enough.

I can see extremely dedicated staff doing their best to help dogs find forever loving homes.
A good location, facilities could be improved and am sure in time will be, but I saw many volunteers walking dogs, being handled in a way to keep stress levels as low as possible, and behaviourist present to answer questions and give advice. Owners aware of dog/situation suitability which reduces risk of dogs being returned. A very committed rescue.Review by: Charlotte Wilde

AADR is not a Battersea or Dogs Trust so they don't have the same level of funding, so it felt different to those places when we first visited.....but they make it work. They don't have impressive concrete buildings etc.. but what they have in spades is compassion for and dedication to the pups they look after.
What was very very apparent (and has continued to be the case since we adopted from AADR) is that they know the dogs well, they don't hide any issues and they care enormously about every one of them.
There is a very good closed Facebook community for adopters which is great and the team at AADR are always responsive to questions and offer advice and guidance whenever it is sought. Behavioural support is also available.
Would definitely recommend.Review by: Gill Murray

We were initially made aware of the rescue by someone who had a dog from AADR. But we like to look with our own eyes so visited and liked what we saw. We were able to freely walk around the site and walked two possible dogs. We chose one and chatted about known history of the dog which was not much. as is the norm with pound rescued dogs. My partner enjoyed the experience we now have two from AADR I would recommend that people visit and see how they are kept and how the rescue is run for themselves. I think people will enjoy the experience.

This is a fantastic place to rescue!
All dogs are vetted and checked and they offer a trial period where you can take your dog home to see if you get on for a week or so. They are prepared to take the whole adoption process as slow as you want if need be, there is no feeling of being forced and rushed.
You can go in and ask to see a specific dog or you can tell them the kind of dog you are looking for and they will help accommodate.
They don't lie which is the best part. They will tell you if the dog you have your eye on in not approtaie for your needs. They highlight the dogs positives and negatives. The dogs are frequently exercised and also have a massive pen in which they are given time to run in and theres an onsite shop in which you can buy everything your dog will need should you decide to adopt.
Wonderful place! Very highly recommendReview by: vse192

I would like to say that i have been extremely unwell the past 3 years, it took a huge amount of work to get me to go to the rescue centre to start with.
Once there, i can only say and describe that the welcome we received and the help we were given , the answers we asked were answered thoroughly and covered above and beyond what we asked of them.
we asked to look at certain dogs and after much discussion and being informed of the dogs behavioural and characteristics that the dogs we enquired about it turned out were not suitable for us as a family for several different reasons all of which were fully explained and justified and reasonable .
we then asked what in their opinion would be a more suitable companion for our dog we already had and we were informed of a couple.
we have subsequently adopted one of the dogs put forward and i have to say what an amazing dog she is and how she is fitting in so well and so fast and you have to give thanks to the ladies at the rescue for putting us on to the correct dogs for us to look at for this to have happened in the first place.
we have chatted both in person and via facebook since we took her in our home and have already notified the rescue that there is no chance in hell that our little lady will be returned, she is very much loved and welcomed and fitting in to our family circle .
regards the grounds themselves? well you can see that it is a work in progress, it isn't super high tech as some places could be, but that said it still provides everything that the dogs require and i have noted changes on the residence from this visit to previous visits made which enforces the belief that they are ever evolving and ever working towards ramping up the experience both for the dogs and for those who come along to adopt too.
given that rescues cost a enormous amount of money to run , the fee charged for adoption was more then reasonable and the deposit that was required also more then reasonable, indeed i would go as far to say i maybe expected a little more in the charges made, but then these guys as much as it costs a bomb to run aren't in this buisness for profit they are all about the dogs and the dogs welfare which pleased me immensely .
i would state also that they are informative about your dog, from character to jabs given , what is required when, insurances micro chipping etc is all discussed and in fact is included ie 4 weeks free insurance and the dog comes micro chipped and has been spade too.all such information and more regards worming etc is all covered.they will tell you absolutely everything.
i would lastly like to say that what could have potentially been an extremely stressful situation for me was made to run so smoothly that it took away so much stress it was actually a pleasure .
if you want a rescue that is all about the dogs? is all about their long term health and happiness then @AA Dog rescue are the guys for you.

Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They put the well being of the animals in their care first and foremost . They discussed at length which dogs would or would not be suitable for our family, Time was also taken to assess compatibility with the dog we already had. Home checks and further compatibility checks were carried out with other pets when chosen adopted dog was delivered to our home. We received microchipping information, 4 weeks free pet insurance, medical history on spaying, vaccinations, worming and flea treatment. We also received information on our chosen dog's current dietary requirements. All dogs receive lifetime support from the rescue. Adopting a dog from AA dog rescue was one of the best decisions our family has made. I have and would definitely recommend AA dog rescue to any one looking to adopt a dog.

This meeting was to have my puppy neutered, the procedure was completed without any problems and I was able to drop and collect my dog at a time suitable for me, they did offer to keep Milo overnight if it was easier. The adoption process was smooth, my only gripe was getting his medical card in order that I could get him registered at the vets and kennels for holiday.

When we decided to find a companion for our greyhound we looked at lots of local rescue centres websites and made many phone calls, but struggled to find anything suitable. Then we phoned Charley and after describing what we were after and the sort of home we could offer, she replied that there were a couple of dogs at AA that maybe suitable and to come over with our dog and take a look. Both dogs were as described and were happy in our greyhound's company, we made a decision and chose a dog, a Jack Russell, which we were able to have on a weeks trial. Our Jack Russell had been microchipped, vaccinated and neutered. Very pleased with experience and aftercare.

The whole team at AA were fantastic. We went looking for a dog for our Autistic son. We went in they asked us questions about household, our requirements ect and we stated we did not want a staffie, we listened to all the bad press and publicity this breed gets and felt this was the not the right breed for us. Charley and her team showed us a few dogs, we spent time with some of them before falling in love with Milo in January this year. Milo suffered with anxiety problems and the AA team were always on hand when we had a query or popped down to ask a question. We decided in October to get another dog companion for Milo and went straight to AA they listened to our needs and again we instantly fell in love with our new dog Ruby. Both dogs were well loved and cared for at AA, they both had been spayed/neautured both micro chipped and vaccinations up to date. They gave us as much background information as possible for both our dogs. Questions are answered fully and we were never made to feel like a burden. Visiting AA was one of the best things we have ever done as a family, not only did we get 2 new members of our family but they changed our perception and views because yes we now have 2 staffies. Our staffies are the soppiest, lickiest and lovable dogs we could ask for.

Charley and her team are amazing they work very closely with all the dogs to make sure they know where they will be best placed for a forever home we have recently adopted from and they could not have chosen a better dog to suit our family and have offered on going support even though we don't need any currently. Would highly recommend and would definitely adopt from there again in the future

Excellent rescue centre. The animals care is out first and foremost. We were made to feel at ease from the very first contact and have kept in contact ever since we adopted out dog. The staff are always extremely helpful, friendly and polite. An absolute pleasure to deal with. I would wholeheartedly recommend AA Dog Rescue to anyone.

Fantastic place, I like the fact you could select an animal either on line or with the folder in reception, then a member of staff brought the animal to meet you. So often In other centres you are invited to go and look around like the animals are zoo exhibits, this stresses out the animal and causes them to behave differently, if I had my way ALL rehoming centres would take your stance and bring the animal to you.
The centre was clean, tidy and the staff helpful, accommodating and friendly. Advice given to my family was thorough however I found it a little patronising as this old dog knows all the tricks but having said that for a brand new owner the advice was excellent. We are so pleased with the new addition to our family, we are now complete.Review by: Username

We adopted our dog from AA rescue almost as year ago, they had not been going long at this time, the Staff are brill, I can not rate Charley and her team high enough. Since our adoption we have been going back loads of times, helped our with repairs, tried to make things better, not only for the dogs but the staff also & now consider ourselves part of the team. It may not be the prettiest kennels but the dedication to the dogs are second to none. Had we room for another dog AA would be my 1st port of call

Amazing rescue that does not just pick the easy to home types of dog. They take all breeds but do focus on helping staffie types as much as possible and thank god they do as we found our wonderful staffie cross at Aa rescue. Keep up the great work guys and thank you for all you do for the dogs in your care

This rescue centre may not have the best facilities in the world but the dogs there are really loved and shown individual care. when I visited I was impressed by the way the animals were given proper walks and more than once a day. I had assumed this was the norm in rescue centres until I started visiting lots of them looking for a dog.I watched a volunteer here ,sit in the kennel with a large long haired dog and patiently groom him for ages, whispering into his ear as she did it. The volunteers here do an amazing job. I ended up fostering a very elderly dog and when I needed advice they were very easy to contact and ready to offer support and because you talk to the same person, they know the dog you are talking about in depth and can give you very specific help. Definitely worth a visit if you are looking to adopt a rescue.

Very friendly and helpful. After care is brilliant with free access to dog behaviourist. It is very obvious that every dog is very loved. AA dog rescue even have a matchmaker page on facebook, where they work with other rescues to match potential adopters with their perfect rescue dog. Overall a wonderful experience and a very worthy rescue. Adoption: July 2013
