This rehoming centre is exceptional. Their facilities are modern, clearn and comfortable for the animals, including sections for the dogs that have underfloor heating. Instead of the dour and functional feel of many such facilities, the Lewknor centre is bright, clean and comforting. We found ourselves with a dog we sadly could not keep in the long run but who was fine living with us for a few months, so our dog trainer told us about the Blue Cross's Home Direct scheme, where we fostered the dog in our home until the team at Lewknor identified appropriate adopters. Their screening process is thorough and detailed and we were filled with confidence that the right match would be made for the dog in our care. The team is caring and professional and I cannot say enough good things about them or the experience of rehoming this lovely dog. Relinquishment: October 2013

A first-class, highly professional adoption! What more can I add to all the previous reviews?
Saw 'Vicky' online, (a Basset girl of 2), phoned and, in spite of living 100 odd miles away, the staff went out of their way to ensure we could bring our new girl home with our Nellie Basset if they liked each other! Whilst it took time at the centre, we were all treated brilliantly & we couldn't have asked for more! From the info, to the pack & a freebie food pack, A* all the way and a perfect start to a future which has got off to an excellent start! Reggie, (Vicky) is settling in beautifully so far ~ like a comfy shoe! Adoption: 2012

Staff were knowledgeable and took care to explain where the animals had come from, were healthy and to make sure we found a cat that would be happy in our family environment. Would recommend the Blue Cross Centre in Lewknor to others. Adoption: 2012

All of the staff were very friendly and very happy to help us locate a dog to suit our expectations, and although they did make all the enquiries needed to satisfy themselves that we would be good "parents", this was done in a friendly and relatively unobtrusive way. The facilities were excellent, we were allowed to play with the dog in an indoor play-barn, to run around with him in an enclosed compound, and to take him for a walk along a country bridle path prior to adopting him. Every detail of his health and his stay at the centre was explained, and a full documentation pack given to us. The whole process was painless and we would recommend Blue Cross Lewknor to anyone looking to adopt a pet. The obvious love of the staff for the animals in their care certainly means we will take him back to visit them. Adoption: 2012

I felt that the centre was not just pushing through animals as fast as possible. The staff took time and effort to ensure that the dog was happy. My existing dog were played with our new dog for several minutes and we knew that they hit it off straight away. The staff ensured that we would provide a proper home for the new dog. Adoption: 2011

A very caring place who had provided a dog for successful adoption by my neighbour 9 months ago. I was able to explain my circumstances and the centre took great trouble to match me with a dog best-suiting my situation.
I left with plenty of information to assist me in settling my dog and an open invitation to call any time for further support.
I hope I can make my new houseguest very happy. Adoption: 2011

Having adopted from the Burford branch 14 years ago, I knew that the Blue Cross was a good standard. I did not see any dogs that suited us at Burford this time so enlarged the search to the next nearest. I saw few puppies on the Lewknor site, completed the application form and then rang the following day. That pup was already reserved but photos of another one was sent to me. We visited the next day and found everything clean and efficient. We were given plenty of advice about the pup, and how a puppy's need differs from an adult dog, and had a play with him in the small enclosure. In order to speed things up on the day of collection we did some of the paperwork the same day. All in all everything was done professionally and proficiently, with the dogs well-being the prime motivation. Adoption: 2011

The adoption centre was very easy to contact and also the directions given made the journey stress free. The web site of the Blue Cross I found to be the easiest to access against the other Cat Charities in the area. This may be something to do with my internet access but I doubt that.
To be honest I can't think of anything the Centre at Lewknor could improve on. The staff are very caring towards the animals and people coming to visit. The place is spotless and in a lovely spot. I would love to work there myself. If I lived slightly nearer I would certainly enquire if there was any voluntary work that I could do. The cat that I adopted "Lacy" was well cared for and seems to have settled at her new home. Overall a first class experience. Adoption: 2011

I was worried about visiting a shelter in case I was overwhelmed with choices of animals but the Blue Cross form that we completed in advance helped us to think through what type of pet we wanted. The staff showed us cats that met our criteria so it was relatively easy to make a good choice. We felt very reassured that the animals that weren't quite right for us would find good homes. Overall an excellent experience. Lewknor is a beautiful centre and the staff were great. Adoption:2011

We have been to several other rescue centers in the past month and were very disappointed with the attitude of their staff particularly one of branches, but the Blue Cross center at Lewknor was like a breath of fresh air. Excellent surroundings brilliant housing for the animals and knowledgeable and helpful staff who obviously cared for the animals. I would have no hesitation in recommending this establishment. Adoption: 2011

On every visit we were greeted by friendly, knowledgeable staff who obviously cared very much about the animals in their care. When collecting our dog we were given comprehensive information which has been extremely helpful. Receiving food for the first few days was greatly appreciated. I cannot fault the service we received. Adoption: 2011

Well today we re-homed Marmalade the cat !
After looking at the website and filling out the home finder questionnaire, we visited the centre. The staff were excellent at matching us to Marmalade. Marmalade had a few medical issues and the staff have kept us fully informed and offered us any support we need.
I would definitely recommend this adoption centre . Adoption: 2011

We have now adopted 4 cats from Lewknor Blue Cross, 2 with special needs. They have matched us well with the cats, have always been very supportive & have kept us informed when 1 of the cats was unwell prior to adoption. We have recommended the centre to friends who have adopted both cats & dogs from this centre. I cannot commend the staff highly enough. The animals are clearly well cared for in a very nice environment. Adoption: 2011

The whole experience from start to finish was a pleasure. Everyone was so friendly, professional and, above all, caring about the animals. We now have a beautiful re-homed little boy (cat) to our family! The service we received was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and we were given first class treatment. We would always recommend the Blue Cross to anyone else who is looking to give a rescued pet a home. Adoption: 2011

We have been looking for a suitable dog for our family and did not intend to get a puppy but a puppy appeared! We visited her at Lewknor while our son was at school as we did not want to upset him if we were not a suitable match. All went well and we took our son back to visit the next day.The staff were all delightful/knowledgable and caring. They gave us time to bond and discuss things. She is a wonderful addition to the family.Thank you all the staff at Lewknor. Adoption: 2011

The staff, employees and volunteers, are friendly and helpful and allowed me extra time to make the right choice of kitten.
For a major national charity, I had to prove my identity and that my home was suitable for a young animal, by showing photographs of the house and garden.
I received a thorough briefing on my animal and was also given a small amount of kitten food and cat litter. Adoption: 2011

Excellent web-site from a large enough organisation to have a good choice of animals for adoption+ really useful to have video clips of each animal (it gives a much better idea of behaviour than words alone). Friendly helpful staff with realistic approach to adoption. Excellent facilities for the animals -better than many commercial catteries. It would have been helpful to have been warned before collecting the cat that they didn't accept cheques but apart from that I cannot fault the service provided. Adoption: 2011

We first made contact with the Blue Cross at Lewknor via phone, we had recently lost our dog to cancer, the staff were polite, friendly and understamding. We were interested in a specific dog and then went to meet her, we were assessed and invited to go back for a second visit, this was compulsory if you wanted to rehome a pet. I felt assured they would not let an animal go to just anyone. They offered great advice and we feel happy to contact them again in the future if we need more advice. They were great. Adoption: 2011

This was our third adoption of a dog, though first time from The Blue Cross. We were exceptionally impressed with the efficient, thorough & friendly service & support we have received from the centre. Everything from using the website & telephone contact, meeting the dog, through to the adoption process. We cannot praise them enough for how fantastic they were & how much time they spent with us, ensuring we were a suitable match for each other & making sure we had all the information we needed on the dog. It was such a successful visit, that we were allowed to take our dog home the same day!.... & we're absolutely delighted with him!!! Keep up the good work Lewknor Blue Cross. Would definitely recommend them to others & adopt more animals from them if we had them space!!! :o))) Adoption: 2011

Having adopted from the Blue Cross before we were very happy to do so again. Staff were professional and friendly, explaining every detail, including some possible problems (which were actually not apparent after adoption - but it is good that an over-rosy picture was not painted). We would highly recommend the Blue Cross to anyone. Adoption: 2011
